War is a phenomenon that, while devastating, sometimes encourages innovation. It's dramatic but it's like that ... "The new Seamaster limited editions are firmly rooted in the history of the Second World War," says Omega in its statement.

Recall that between 1940 and 1945, the watchmaker provided more than 110,000 watches to the British Ministry of Defense (MoD) to equip soldiers of the Royal Air Force and other corps of the army. They were very popular with British airmen and sailors for their tightness and reliability on the front.

At the end of the war, the world is experiencing a wave of optimism. Omega is at the peak of its creativity and responds immediately to public demand: to create a watch with the same technologies as these military timepieces, whose design is just as reliable and robust, but aesthetically more adapted to civilian life.

Launched in 1948, the Seamaster line is the first family of Omega watches. Remarkable models, even more sealed than the military versions thanks to the pioneering use of O-rings, intended to be then recognized and respected worldwide.

About the new Omega Seamaster 1948 Limited Editions

True to the original post-war design, the Seamaster 1948 Petite Seconde and the Seamaster 1948 Seconde Centrale feature the 8804 and 8806 Master Chronometer calibres firmly rooted in the 21st century. They both feature a 38mm steel case, polished bezel, opaline silver domed dial and a polished crown with a vintage Ω logo.

The hour and minute hands of the Seamaster 1948 Petite Seconde in the form of leaves are curved, while those of the Central Second model are Dauphine and coated with white Superluminova. On the latter, the minute and second hands are also curved. Closer, there are subtle differences in diamond polished white gold needles.

The Seamaster 1948 Small Second has a small seconds counter at 6 o'clock and is based on a brown leather strap, closed by a steel buckle. The Central Second version is equipped with a gray-blue leather strap. As on the original models, the buckle of both versions is stamped with the vintage Omega logo.

On the bottom, there is a flat sapphire crystal, held in place thanks to technology "NAIAD LOCK" patented by Omega. The ring surrounding the sapphire crystal carries the laser engraved "Seamaster Limited Edition" and the limited edition number.

On the bottom, the sapphire crystal is decorated with the 70th anniversary logo, engraved and lacquered by hand, a Chris-Craft boat and a Gloster Meteor aircraft, the first jet plane used by the Royal Air Force. Both models are presented in a collector's box in smooth brown leather, in which the watch stays upright thanks to a magnetic base! The box also includes an original Nato gray replacement "Admiralty" bracelet, a leather strap and a tool to easily change the strap.
